On June 30th 2011, a lucky audience of 75 witnessed an extraordinary musical evening for the inaugural Iford Recordings DVD, in association with Iford Arts.

The Cloister at Iford has long held a magic for small, intimate music: Tim's work, especially through his improvisation, lends itself particularly well, as he can draw inspiration from his surroundings - much richer in nature than in any recording studio.

The DVD is a brilliant blend of old favourites and new surprises, ground-breaking works which set this DVD apart from the standard concert recording.

Challenging to achieve with an audio CD, and rarely accomplished on many DVDs, this production ensures that the live concert is placed within its setting, offering behind the scenes extras, interviews and shots of the stunning Iford valley - the full Iford experience.

This recording was kindly supported by Mickleburgh Pianos of Bath who provided a fantastic Kawai 5ft grand, with a beautiful consistency in its range, and (according to David Newton who was playing it) a beautiful action. At Mickleburgh Bath you can find an extensive range of new and reconditioned upright and grand pianos over two floors, plus a good selection of digital pianos to choose from. Mickleburgh are always happy to help the beginner through to the advanced pianist.

The event was additionally supported by Sound Network UK, who sponsored the use of the excellent DPA microphones, without which the audio pick-up would not have been the same. Produced in association with Iford Arts.

Reviews:

A nimbleness of touch [...] topped by a sense of freshness captured by the cameras as much as the microphones.

a casual seance; [...] an instant departure from the trammels of gory city life
